Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards nominations open
Preparations for the biggest night in New Zealand music are gathering pace with nominations for the 47th annual RIANZ Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards opening today (May 21).
In 2011 the Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards shifted from its usual early October to the beginning of November to side-step the Rugby World Cup.
Following the success of last year’s awards the industry has unanimously voted to keep the November date going forward. As a result, this year’s Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards ceremony will take place on 1 November at Auckland’s Vector Arena.
Organiser the Recording Industry Association of New Zealand says it is looking forward to seeing who will be throwing their hats into the ring considering the big 12 months it has been for New Zealand music.
“It’s shaping up to be an amazing year for New Zealand music, both here in New Zealand and for our artists who are overseas, and we’re very excited to showcase it at the Awards,” says Chris Caddick, managing director at RIANZ.
Details on how to submit a nomination can be found at www.rianz.org.nz/nominations/vnzma2012. Unless otherwise specified, awards are open to New Zealand artists who have had recordings commercially released between 1 June 2011 and 30 June 2012. Nominations stay open until 5pm on Monday 2 July.
